"In Munich, we can offer up to three apprenticeships for freight forwarding and logistics services specialists from September 1, 2024," says Katarina Ognjuk, Human Resources Consultant at a. hartrodt in Hamburg. The family-owned company has already found some apprentices for the current year at other German locations. Currently, a. hartrodt is providing apprenticeships for 45 young people throughout Germany, including as office clerks or in the dual study program Hamburg Logistics Bachelor. "In 2025, we will also offer for the first time a Bachelor's degree in IT in combination with an apprenticeship for IT specialists," announces Ognjuk.

Double qualification at a. hartrodt and the BHH

With the new dual study program, a. hartrodt is targeting young people in times of declining numbers of apprenticeships in logistics professions. The dual qualification in the company and at the Berufliche Hochschule Hamburg BHH (Hamburg Vocational University) prepares students for a wide range of tasks in application development and system integration. "Even those who are not undergoing a traditional logistics apprenticeship can gain an insight into freight forwarding with us," emphasizes Ognjuk.

Positive working atmosphere with open corporate culture

"In view of demographic change and digitalization, employers today have a lot to offer," says Ognjuk. At a. hartrodt, young people like the open corporate culture, which contributes to the positive working atmosphere. "Our quarterly apprentice meetings followed by a barbecue in summer or a visit to the Christmas market in winter are popular. Apprentices can exchange ideas with the HR department," she reports. Self-organized activities such as the annual apprentice trip or internships abroad are also well received. Generation Z appreciates the solid combination of experience and expertise, passion and dedication, tradition and innovation at a. hartrodt.

The freight forwarding company will be providing information about international career opportunities at the stand of the Verein Hamburger Spediteure (Hamburg Freight Forwarders Association) at the vocatium Hamburg from July 2-3, 2024 in the Hamburg-Schnelsen exhibition hall. Ognjuk finds it exciting to "proactively think" about other apprenticeships such as marketing communication.
